What I’m learning about engagement at the Columbia Missourian

This semester, I’m working on the Columbia Missourian’s community outreach team. As part of the team, I am implementing social media and community engagement strategies both in the classroom and in the newsroom. Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to so far:

Hello! I’m Sarah Darby.

I am a digital strategist with experience in writing, video, audio, social media and design.

I believe in the power of audiences. Through my work as a journalist, I have learned that it is not enough to publish a story and expect readers to find it. News organizations must put consumers first and think entrepreneurially in order to engage readers in the 21st century media environment.

To me, the future of media is a business opportunity waiting to happen. I approach industry problems with curiosity and diligence, and I strategically grow audiences for media organizations.
